You have to bear in mind a few factors when social bookmarking your site, mainly whether the site you are submitting your link to is a do-follow or a no-follow social bookmarking site. A no-follow site may bring you a few unique visitors a day, but it is not going to assist your indexing or provide you a one way link – which many see the main benefit of social bookmarking.
However a do-follow social bookmarking site will, more often than not, allow the page that your link is on, and the link of your site to be indexed by Google and the other search engines, therefore counting as a one way link and being a small help to your ranking. Ok, one link isn´t going to boost your rankings on the search engine, so therefore it is one SEO strategy and often has to be done in bulk to get results – but you can get results from it.
Social bookmarking is sometimes overlooked and underestimated by many who approach SEO strategies, but as with most SEO attempts, combining it with other strategies will bring results. The primary aim of any website is to bring traffic, after that you can focus on targeted traffic, but knowing you have links spread across the web with social bookmarking sites and you are ranking with some of those links on the search engines is most definitely a step in the right direction.
Here we have discussed one method of site syndication and ways to establish links, we will discuss more methods in the coming posts, but for now you can make a start on your SEO efforts with social bookmarking and keep a check for new posts coming soon.
