How Rookies Can Close Sells Like A Pro
Wednesday, October 7th, 2009In this economy, it is the people who know how to sell that get ahead. They are the ones who are able to push the deal and make two people happy – the salesperson and the customer. Since you are a beginner, you might be asking yourself, “How can I possible compete with experienced salespeople?” Look no further, the answer is here!
There are four things that an experienced salesperson consistently does that sets him or her apart as an expert in the industry. These four skills are used by the best of the best!
Sincere enthusiasm:
If you are not using your products yourself, start today! A prospect picks up on your enthusiasm, and it is easy to tell if the enthusiasm is forced or natural. You are supposed to be an expert on your product – how can you become an expert if you do not use your own products? Once you become a product of your product, your enthusiasm will automatically be sincere.
Staying smooth:
Speak clearly! Your prospect must be able to understand you. If you are using the telephone, smile! This will automatically relax you and you need to be relaxed because your prospect will pick up on any nervousness. You need to come across as a leader, and a confident, well-modulated voice demonstrates to your prospect that you are exactly that. It’s a simple fact of life that people are more interested in following someone they feel is a leader.
Active listening:
A leader listens. It is that uncomplicated. When you listen, do not be thinking about what you are going to say next. Think about what your prospect is saying. When you listen to people you can pick up on what they really want and need. If you pick up on what they want, you can move to the next step, which is closing the sale.
Close the sale:
Once you solve any issues your customer may face, you can ask for the sale. This is the only way to sell, but it is the hardest part of the equation. What are you afraid of? The worst thing that can happen is a no. If you never ask, you do not get a no, but you do not get a yes either. Once you learn that you can ask for the sale, you will start seeing things happen.
Becoming an experienced salesperson is simply a matter of applying these four steps. Once you begin to use your product, sound confident, and listen to your customer, you will close sale after sale!
